"EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed" - A new movie from Ben Stein
Ben Stein has a new movie coming out in February 2008 called: EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed. As the title implies, this movie is about the silliness of not teaching science with the perspective that Intelligent Design is a possible reason for the formation of the cosmos, our earth, and everything in the universe that we know of to date.
Personally, I am a staunch Creationist ("Intelligent Design" plus the fact that I believe it was The God of The Bible - not Allah or Buddha or anyone else - that created everything), but I also trust that there are lots of components of "micro-evolution" present all around us that allows a species to adapt to its environment, over time, through beneficial physiological changes. In other words, the science of evolutionary processes is not flawed, only the thinking that it was evolution that created all of everything that we know as life, and that whether there was a Big Bang or not to start the universe off, it would have had to have been authored by the one true, living God of the Bible.
From a political standpoint, I don't see what harm there can possibly be in teaching Intelligent Design alongside the whole Big Bang theory and Evolution in the classroom. We want our youngsters to be well rounded individuals, right? Then why not teach them the alternative theories with factual information about those things which no one can measure. No one was there at the Big Bang or the process of supposedly BILLIONS of years of evolution to say, with scientific proof, how all life as we know it was formed. I learned all about the theories behind evolution, and why a Creationist thinks most of the theories are bunk to explain fully how life formed from inorganic materials, but I learned about it, and in a fundamental, Christian, private school at that! So why can't the opposite be said of public schools?
